WINTER STORM – Update #3
Dear Resident,
Good morning. While the bulk of the accumulating snow has passed, we remain under a Winter Weather Advisory until 4pm this evening. Periods of light snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain are anticipated for today, mainly during the morning and early afternoon hours. Road conditions may be slippery, especially on untreated surfaces. If you must travel, please leave extra time, reduce your speed and give plows wide berth.
We are receiving an increased number of First Aid calls for slips and falls. The Office of Emergency Management recommends that residents use the ‘three-points of contact’ meaning that three of your four limbs are in contact with a stable, non-slippery surface.
The Department of Public Works continues to plow our roadways. Please note that it requires at least 10 hours to clear the town once the snow stops. Please bear with us as 200 miles of roads in 32 square miles are plowed and treated. Our DPW and contractors are working nonstop and we ask for your patience.
As per ordinance, vehicles and obstructions must remain off the roadway until plowing operations are complete. When clearing cars, driveways, and mailboxes do not throw the snow onto the plowed street, but place it onto your property. If you use a snow removal contractor please let them know of this regulation. Snow thrown onto roadways creates dangerous and icing conditions.
A reminder that Zone 3 Recycling collection will have a special pickup day Saturday. Zone 4, scheduled for today, was not cancelled and is being collected as per the schedule.
The Marlboro Division of Police are available 24/7 and can be reached at 732-536-0100. Emergencies dial 911. Please do not call the police for snow updates. They do not have additional information and it is vital that their lines stay open for emergencies.
