MAYOR HORNIK’S WINTER STORM HARPER UPDATE #4
Dear Resident,
As you know, fortunately, the second storm system ended this morning as mostly a rain event. Marlboro Public Works (DPW) had treated the roads Thursday into Friday in advance of the first storm system. DPW is now in the process of re-treating the roads prior to a forecasted plunge in temperatures. While the Township employs specially treated salt as part of its winter storm response program, the effectiveness of all de-icing agents is diminished in the most frigid temperatures. Residents should stay off of the roads if at all possible and use extreme caution if travel is necessary. As always, you can expect sidewalks and untreated surfaces to be icy and dangerous.
In the event the winds pick up as previously forecasted, we could experience power outages. My office continues to be in contact with JCP&L and they have additional personnel in the area. Power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L. Assume all downed lines are live and dangerous. Do not drive over them or touch them, but report immediately to the Marlboro Police. Visit https://www.firstenergycorp.com/help/communication_tools.html to review reporting power outages utilizing the JCP&L App, Website, Facebook, via text or by calling at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until midnight tonight and winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. A Wind Chill Advisory through 1pm Monday will bring wind chills as low as 20 below zero. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Please limit your time outside and we ask once again that you check on neighbors who may need assistance.
Thank you for your cooperation. We will continue to update you as needed.
Mayor Jon Hornik
