Hurricane Ida Remnants Update #2
Dear Resident,
As the remnants of Hurricane Ida move through the area, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Thursday, September 2 at 8:00 pm and a Tornado Watch until 10:00pm this evening. Showers and the potential for thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rains are forecast. The heaviest rainfall is expected late this afternoon and throughout the overnight hours.
Already saturated ground along with heavy rainfall in a short period of time can lead to flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways or barricades. To ensure you receive emergency weather alerts, take a moment now to ensure that weather alerts are activated on your cell phone by going to settings, search and activate ‘wireless emergency alerts’.
Wind and rain brings the possibility of power outages. Keep electronic devices charged and report outages to JCP&L by calling 888-544-4877 (888-LIGHTSS). Set up text reporting and status updates by texting REG to 544487 with your 12 digit account number and zip code. Track outages and estimated time of restoration here: http://outages.firstenergycorp.com/nj.html
We remind you to consider all downed wires as dangerous. Please immediately report to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.
Stay safe and stay home, if possible. We will update you as needed.
