Heavy Rain and High Wind Warning - Update #2

Good afternoon,  

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for our area until 6:00pm Monday, February 17.  A powerful storm system will impact our area today into tonight with periods of heavy rain today.  Strong to damaging high winds will develop this afternoon and evening and will persist through Monday.   The strongest winds of 25-40mph with gusts of 50-60mph will occur between 4pm -10pm today. 

Temperatures turning very mild by this afternoon, then plunging tonight with wind chills in the teens. Wet surfaces will become icy and dangerous.  Please slow down, leave extra time and use caution. 

The wet grounds, coupled with high winds could lead to extensive power outages and tree damage.  Remain alert for downed trees and power lines and be prepared for power outages this afternoon into tonight.

If you have not done so already, please take time to prepare. 

  • Ensure all cell phones, back up batteries, tablets, etc. are fully charged. 
  • Tie down or bring inside all lawn decorations as they can become projectiles in high winds. 
  • Move portable basketball hoops to your lawn/driveway and lay them flat.

  • Report downed wires to Marlboro Police. Stay clear of electrical lines which may be live and dangerous.
  • Review the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management website HEREwith links to preparedness websites HERE.
  • Do not drive or walk through flooded waters.  Turn around. Don’t drown. 
  • Curbside Brush Collection remains suspended due to the current and extended weather forecast.

Town Hall and the Recycling Center are CLOSED Monday in observance Presidents Day however, as always, emergency management services are open 24/7.
